Tarun Katial: Chief Executive Officer, RBN

At the helm of one of India’s youngest media houses Reliance Broadcast Network., and with impressive stints at Star TV and Sony Entertainment Television, Tarun Katial, is considered to be one of the most successful executives in the Indian media industry.

In 1998, Tarun earned an MBA in marketing, and his self-confessed urge to do something ‘different and exciting’ saw him jump into the world of advertising where he spent three rewarding years with agencies like Saatchi & Saatchi, Enterprise Nexus and Ogilvy & Mather. He then joined the Star Network as Executive Vice President - Content and Communications before moving to Sony Entertainment Television as Business Head. Tarun has an established record of accomplishment through successful shows and has always been in perfect tune with what captivates the Indian consumer.

In early 2006, Tarun set out to launch 92.7 BIG FM, now India’s largest FM network with 45 Stations. He has been responsible for taking the radio business to a position of leadership and reaching the medium to the farthest corners of India. Synergizing well with its reputed radio business, he has led the Company’s foray into television broadcast with its flagship Hindi channel – BIG MAGIC and regional Entertainment Channel BIG MAGIC Bihar and Jharkhand. A well-crafted portfolio of synergetic businesses also includes BIG LIVE, which creates and markets intellectual properties, and BIG Productions, a division that functions as a content production house catering for the diverse creative needs of the Indian television landscape.

Other significant achievements in Tarun’s cap include being voted the NewsCorp Achiever for Asia and being included among the best in the ‘India Today 30 on 30’ list. He was also part of the team that won the first Media Gold at Cannes.


Lavneesh Gupta: Chief Operating Officer, RBN

Lavneesh Gupta is the Chief Operating Officer of Reliance Broadcast Network’s TV and Radio business. Lavneesh comes with a rich experience of 16 years in the BFSI industry and plays a key role in building on consumer insights to create robust content and marketing strategies for RBN He is responsible for driving sales, business, distribution and operations for TV and Radio business.

An engineering graduate from IIT, Lavneesh has worked across leading brands in the BFSI industry ranging from Standard Chartered Bank, ABN AMRO and Tata AIG to Max Life and IndusInd Bank. His experience is varied across the treasury, credit, corporate banking, product management, strategy and retail & wealth management sales. His last assignmenet prior to joining RBN was with IndusInd Bank as Executive Vice President & head, Bancassurance and New Branch Distribution. He was responsible for the life and general insurance revenues across 500 branch outlets and the overall P & L of 150 new branches which were launched during the last financial year.


Asheesh Chatterjee: Chief Financial Officer, RBN

Asheesh Chatterjee leads the Finance and Legal aspects of the business, spearheading key initiatives like fund raising, M&A and JVs whilst strengthening credibility and reputation of the Company within the investor community.

A Chartered Accountant and Cost Accountant by qualification, Asheesh brings with him over 15 years of post qualification experience across varied sectors viz. Assurance and Consulting, Financial services, Manufacturing and Media and Entertainment. Having held senior finance positions with leading companies like Moser Baer, Sony Entertainment Television (Multi Screen Media), ICICI Prudential Asset Management and Ernst & Young, he has worked on a diverse portfolio covering strategic finance, corporate structuring, operational finance, tax planning, audit, treasury, and investor/analyst relations.


Sunil Kumaran: Business Head, RBN

Sunil Kumaran is the Business Head at Reliance broadcast Network. An engineering graduate and an MBA from Mumbai University, Sunil started his career with Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising in 1994 as a media supervisor. He then moved on to JWT in 1996 where he undertook the role of a media director, following which he undertook multiple media opportunities at organizations including Lowe & Partners Worldwide, Rediffusion DY&R and even worked at Universal McCann in Bahrain. Before taking over the core television brands of RBN as Business Head, he also had a successful stint with 92.7 BIG FM as the cluster head for Karnataka and Kerala starting 2008.


Ashwin Padmanabhan: Business Head – 92.7 BIG FM, RBN

Ashwin Padmanabhan is the Business Head of Reliance Broadcast Network’s 92.7 BIG FM. With a Masters in Business Administration from the Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tiruchirapalli, Ashwin is known for his combination of dynamic technical skills and proficient sales knowledge.

A multifunctional sales, marketing, business development and professional services executive, Ashwin’s core competency and skills lie in building businesses, and in implementing differentiated marketing programs. He has strong general management skills and has a track record of transforming businesses and organizations and has applied it to 92.7 BIG FM, where he began his career as the station head for the Hyderabad station and growing very quickly to become the National Business Head for 92.7 BIG FM.
